There are four easy ways to be part of the Ocean Friendly Neighborhood effort on the Peninsula.
1. Make your next event ocean friendly
Hosting a block party, birthday or BPPA gathering? Use our event guidelines. It’s not hard and it sets the standard for the rest of the neighborhood.
2. Use the refill stations
Two water bottle refill stations are live on the Peninsula:
- L Street Park
- Bay Beach
Skip the case of plastic bottles. Bring a reusable.
3. Come to a beach cleanup
Cleanups are an easy 90 minutes. Bags and gloves provided. Bring water, sunscreen, and a friend.
BPPA hosts an annual Dirtiest Day cleanup on July 5, the morning after the 4th of July. Check our events page for the next one.
Surfrider North OC cleanups
Our partner chapter runs cleanups year-round at beaches throughout North Orange County. Open to everyone, all gear provided.

4. Spread the word
Tell your neighbors. Mention it when you’re at the beach, L street park or racquet club. The faster this becomes “just how we do things on the Peninsula,” the better.
