There are four easy ways to be part of the Ocean Friendly Neighborhood effort on the Peninsula.
1. Make your next event ocean friendly
Hosting a block party, birthday or BPPA gathering? Use our Ocean Friendly event guidelines. It’s not hard and it sets the standard for the rest of the neighborhood. See the event guidelines
2. Use the refill stations
Skip the case of plastic bottles. Bring a reusable. Two water bottle refill stations are live on the Peninsula:
- L Street Park
- Bay Beach
3. Come to a beach cleanup
The BPPA will host 3-4 beach clean ups during the year. Cleanups are an easy 90 minutes. Bags and gloves provided. Bring water, sunscreen, and a friend.
Dirtiest Day cleanup on July 5. Check our events page for the next one. See BPPA events
Surfrider North OC cleanups. Our Surfrider partner chapter runs cleanups year-round at beaches throughout North Orange County. Open to everyone, all gear provided. See the Surfrider North OC cleanup schedule
4. Spread the word
Tell your neighbors. Mention it when you’re at the beach, L street park or racquet club. The faster this becomes “just how we do things on the Peninsula,” the better.
