PATROL REPORT – December 21, 2024

December 21, 2024 – (Balboa Peninsula Point Patrol Assignment)

6pm to 3am S/O David Sierras

6pm – On Duty, Patrolling streets, alleys and parks… Several people are at the West Jetty View Park and Kids Beach to watch the boat parade.

7pm – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks….. Checking on homes under construction, observing vehicle and pedestrian movement, several spectators remain watching the boat parade.

8pm – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks…… Checking on homes under construction, observing vehicle and pedestrian movement, boat parade has ended and I am observing vehicles leave BPP.

9pm – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks…… observing vehicle and pedestrian movement, no unusual activity to report. Some residents are hosting dinner parties.

10pm – Removing people from the pier and warning people the beach is closed. ***A GMC minivan with Oregon license plate was parked near 1412 E. Oceanfront with the passenger window down/open, 10 minutes later the owner of the vehicle arrived and stated that his vehicle doesn’t appear to be tampered with and drove away with his family.

11pm – West Jetty View Park is now closed and I cleared the park of all visitors. A steady flow of vehicles are arriving to the West Jetty View Park, I made them aware that the beach and park are closed and they drove away.

12am – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks…. Checking on homes under construction, observing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, deterring incoming vehicles approaching beach and the park. ***I noticed a green Honda Accord parked near 1412 E. Oceanfront with the keys in the windshield wiper, I called Newport Beach Police to check if vehicle is stolen and it was not. A Caucasian female arrived and drove away with the vehicle.

1am – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks….. I am deterring vehicles from parking near jetty park and from entering the beach.

***1:42am – A Caucasian male parked a grey Ford near 2301 Channel Rd, when he stepped out of his vehicle I asked him if he’s going to the beach and if so the beach is closed. He then became belligerent and stated that he was going on the Jetty to fish and that he will go on the beach and there is nothing I could do to stop him. He then started saying F*** you, shut the f*** up, you stupid f***. I separated myself from him and continued my patrol, when I returned he was gone but his vehicle remained.

2am – Patrolling streets, alleys and parks….. Checking on homes under construction, observing and deterring vehicles approaching the jetty park.

3am – Off Duty.
