EASTER EGG HUNT
The Easter Egg Huntis held in L Street Park. There are four age categories of Easter Egg hunters: ages two to four, ages five to seven, ages eight to ten and ages 11 and up. The Easter bunny always makes an appearance at the Easter Egg hunt. After the hunt is completed, refreshments are served. Hot dogs and drinks are available for purchase.
4TH OF JULY PARADE
The 4th of July Parade is a long-standing tradition on the Balboa Peninsula Point. The event centers around L Street park, where scores of bicycles, floats, skateboards and other mobility devices are decorated. After one hour of decorating, parade participants line up to begin the parade.
In the past, the parade has had a variety of participants including the Newport Beach police department, the Newport Beach fire department
(which brings one of its fire trucks), military color guard, and musical bands. A crowd favorite is the Racquettes, a female marching group of Peninsula Point Racquet Club members who twirl their tennis racquets in unison. The current BPPA President rides in a decorated golf cart. Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam always march near the front of the parade.
The parade route goes toward the beach on L Street then turns up Miramar and then turns left on M Street, circling around M Street park and retracing the parade route back to L Street park. Prizes are given for the best decorations. After the parade, hot dogs and drinks are available for purchase in L Street park.
Beach Barbeques allow residents to get to know their fellow Peninsula Point neighbors. The Beach Barbeques are held during the months of June through September. Residents who attend the Beach Barbeques are encouraged to bring food or beverage to share in the pot luck.
BPPA Chili Cook-Off is held annually in the fall at “L” Street Park, on Balboa Peninsula Point. There is Chili of course, and hot dogs, soda pop, live music, Kids activities & just plain FUN! 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Awards are given for best residential & commercial chili. Best booth design award given to 1 residential & 1 commercial entry.
